Guanacaste is extreme. The heat. The rain. The salt. The light. That's exactly why people fall for it β€” and exactly why what you build here has to be designed for it. Not imported. Not assumed. Learned.

02

The Philosophy

Guanacaste is extreme. That's exactly why people fall in love with it.

The heat here is different. The rain is different. The dust, the salt air, the way the sun hits a west-facing wall at 4pm in April β€” different. Even Ticos who've built all their lives in Costa Rica come to Guanacaste and learn new lessons.

We've spent 7 years learning this place specifically β€” on top of 20 years of construction experience across the country. We know what materials survive the dry season and which ones don't make it through the first rains. We know how to orient a house so the afternoon breeze does the work before you touch the AC. We know what the climate will destroy and what it will reward.

And we know what you're really building for: the howler monkeys with your morning coffee, and the way everything just drops. The sunsets. The beach. The quiet that settles in after 6pm.

All of it is worth building for. We make sure what you build is worthy of it.

What We Do

You've already chosen Guanacaste. Now choose how we build it together.

Design Only

You have your team. We give them a blueprint built for this climate β€” not a beautiful design that Guanacaste will quietly destroy within two years.

Build Only

Your plans are ready. We build them with the materials and methods we'd use on our own homes β€” because this climate doesn't forgive shortcuts.

Design + Build

You focus on the life. We handle everything β€” from first sketch to the morning you wake up and the howler monkeys are already outside your window.

05

Built for the climate,
not against it.

Four principles the Guanacaste coast enforces β€” whether your architect knows them or not. Ours do.

I.
Cross ventilation
Orientation and section shaped so the afternoon onshore breeze does the work. Less reliance on AC, better sleep, lower bills.
II.
Salt-grade steel
Marine-spec fasteners, galvanization and powder coats chosen for salt air. What looks the same on day one doesn't last the same on year five.
III.
Deep eaves
Roofs sized against the 4pm west sun and the scale of the rainy season. Shade, comfort, and walls that stay dry.
IV.
Honest surfaces
Concrete, local hardwoods, lime. Materials that age into character instead of failing on cue.

The People Behind Kaste

Kaste Designs founders
Co-Founders · Architecture & Business

Miguel & Andrés

Your team is a full ecosystem of specialists: structural, electrical, electromechanical, and landscape engineers. Architects. Realtors who know every lot in Guanacaste. Property managers if you need someone watching your home when you're not here.

This isn't a two-person operation. It's a network built over 20 years of working together on this coast β€” the same people, the same standards, project after project.

07

How We Work

From your first conversation to delivered keys β€” we hold your hand through every step, especially if you've never built in Costa Rica before.

01

Consultation

We start with a conversation β€” your vision, your budget, your timeline. If you have land, we evaluate it. If you don't, we help you find it. We have friends.

02

Design

Custom architectural design adapted to the Guanacaste climate. Renders, floor plans, material selections β€” all reviewed together until it's exactly right.

03

Permits

We handle all municipal permits, engineering approvals, and regulatory requirements. No bureaucratic surprises β€” we know the system.

04

Construction

Our crew builds with materials and techniques proven for 20+ years in this climate. Regular updates and site visits keep you informed at every phase.

05

Finishing

Interior design, landscaping, final details. Everything is inspected and perfected before you see it. We don't deliver until it's right.

06

Delivery

Keys in your hand. Walk-through, documentation, and warranty. Your home is ready β€” and built to last in Guanacaste.

08

What Our Clients Say

The attention to detail and post-completion support exceeded every expectation. They didn't just build our house β€” they made sure we were completely satisfied long after the keys were handed over.

Kurt Letson Casa Makule

Building in a foreign country felt overwhelming until we started working with this team. They handled everything β€” permits, materials, timelines β€” and kept us informed at every step. Our home turned out better than we imagined.

Ian Lange Buenas Vibras

The craftsmanship is exceptional. Every corner of Villa Luna reflects a deep understanding of how to build for this climate. Two years in and everything still looks and performs like day one.
